This compact flowering shrub grows into a neat slowly expanding ball of golden foliage with masses of dainty, light pink flowers in June and July. It often reblooms sporadically for the rest of the season. It is extremely hardy and heat, cold and drought resistant once established.
Sowing advice:
These seeds have already been thoroughly cleaned and cold-stored for several months. They should be sown into a well-drained, sandy compost at any time of the year, and covered to their own depth with sand or grit. the seed tray is best left in a cool spot and kept moist, seeds sometimes germinating very slowly indeed in cool conditions in the spring, whenever they are sown. Some green seedlings may appear, but most will be golden.

Culture:
Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates light shade. Tolerates a wide range of soils. Prefers rich, moist loams. Remove faded flower clusters as practicable (light shearing is an option) to encourage additional bloom. Flowers on new wood, so prune in late winter to early spring if needed. Plants can be aggressive self-seeders and have escaped gardens and naturalized in many areas of the eastern U.S. Plants will also spread in the garden by suckering.
Problems:
No known serious insect or disease problems. Spireas are generally susceptible to many of the diseases and insects that attack other rose family members, including leaf spot, fire blight, powdery mildew, root rot, aphids, leaf roller and scale.
