Sowing advice:
Sow seeds IMMEDIATELY you receive them, at any time of the year, they depend on having several months, sometimes up to a year in cold, damp compost, (NOT DRY IN A FRIDGE) before they will germinate. Keep the seed tray moist in a cold greenhouse or shady corner and do not discard. These fresh seeds can be very slow to germinate but do not use any artificial heat in an attempt to germinate them as it may simply disrupt their germination mechanism causing them to enter even deeper dormancy.

Flowers:
The flowers are characterized as the inflorescence: a compound umbel. A. acutiloba’s flowers are perfect or hermaphroditic and actinomorphic, with distinct calyx and white corolla. However, the calyx is often reduced with obsolete calyx teeth. The flowers have five petals, sepals, and stamens. The white petals are often obovate to oblong.

Medicinal uses:
The root is emmenagogue, oxytocic, sedative, and tonic. It is used in the treatment of women’s complaints and eases dizziness.

Known Hazards:
All members of this genus contain furocoumarins, which increase skin sensitivity to sunlight and may cause dermatitis.
