Plant Information

36-48” tall x 36-48” wide. Heat, drought, humidity – rugged Windwalker™Royal Red Sage (Salvia) thrives in the heat of summer and all season long, blooming from June through October. This Sage pairs beautifully with native grasses in mixed perennial borders. Along with hummingbirds, butterflies and bees cannot resist the long flower spikes crowning the bright green foliage. Clip a few stems to add texture among cut flower arrangements. Plants tolerate a range of soils, from dry sand to clay, as long as good drainage is provided. For best performance, plant in full sun on sites that do not hold moisture in winter. The large size can be tamed with a timely trim and by growing under drier conditions. Cut plants back to about 6 to 8 inches high in early June for more compact, densely-branched growth. Resistant to browsing by deer and rabbits.
